Hyperthermia is effective addition to cancer treatment protocols. Hyperthermia works as radio sensitizer and reduces treatment toxicity. Hyperthermia can be added to proton beam therapy. Hyperthermia and proton beam therapy in pelvic sarcomas, extremity sarcomas, and pediatric brain tumors.

Proton beam therapy and hyperthermia. There are 40 published clinical trials on hyperthermia in cancer treatment. Hyperthermia and radiosensitization to radiotherapy cancer treatment. Hyperthermia addition also allows organ preservation in cancer treatment. Hyperthermia in cancer therapy is an attractive field. Application of hyperthermia in cancer treatment is organ preservation. Hyperthermia combined with radiotherapy could both increase efficacy of cancer treatment. Combination of hyperthermia with proton beam therapy to treat cancer in children. Hyperthermia in pediatric cancer treatment with proton beam therapy. Hyperthermia can be used in treatment of pelvic sarcomas and extremity sarcomas. Proton beam therapy is the standard of treatment for children with brain tumors. Proton beam therapy treatment options. Advanced cancer treatment by targeted proton beam therapy and hyperthermia. Medical second opinion confirms proton beam therapy cancer treatment plan. Medical second opinion helps to include best radiotherapy and combination proton beam therapy into comprehensive personalized treatment plan. Best precision medicine radiation therapy treatment for advanced stage cancer with metastatic lesions. Get second opinion on advanced cancer diagnosis and be confident that your precision medicine treatment is the best. Video interview with top oncologist in radiation therapy and proton beam therapy with hyperthermia treatment from Zurich, Switzerland. Hyperthermia cancer treatment. Proton beam therapy and hyperthermia. Dr. Stephan Bodis, MD (Professor of Radiation Oncology, Zurich, Switzerland). So we talk about the hyperthermia. It helps to sensitize cancer tumor for radiation therapy. Hyperthermia's radiosensitization range. There are three particular fields of interest in hyperthermia and radiosensitization. One situation is this. Sometimes you can't treat the cancer patient again with same regimen. Patient has a cancer recurrence. Patient was previously treated with radiotherapy. Still radiotherapy would be the best option to treat recurrent cancer. Then you can combine hyperthermia with radiotherapy. You can probably also use hyperthermia with an established chemotherapy regimen for recurrent cancer. This will allow you to reduce radiation therapy and chemotherapy dose. Cancer treatment with hyperthermia can gain efficacy. Hyperthermia in cancer therapy is an attractive field. There are many publications published about hyperthermia, radiotherapy and chemotherapy combination. Dr. Stephan Bodis, MD (Professor of Radiation Oncology, Zurich, Switzerland). The second application of hyperthermia in cancer treatment is organ preservation. You always have to challenge the surgeons. There is no way that you can establish a hyperthermia cancer treatment program without broad acceptance among the cancer surgeons, surgical oncologists. The goal could be organ preservation in application of hyperthermia to cancer treatment. Sometimes the cancer surgeon has to do mutilating surgery to treat cancer patient. You can argue in a tumor board setting. Hyperthermia combined with radiotherapy could both increase efficacy of cancer treatment. Hyperthermia addition to cancer treatment can probably maintain functional organ preservation. There's no way to preserve an organ if it's not functional after cancer therapy. Dr. Stephan Bodis, MD (Professor of Radiation Oncology, Zurich, Switzerland). There is a third role for hyperthermia in cancer treatment. Hyperthermia might be promising in many cancer treatment options. Some cancer therapies are just being explored. Pediatric oncology is very attractive due to the concern of long-term toxicity of ionizing radiotherapy. Combination of hyperthermia with proton beam therapy could be interesting. Proton beam therapy is used to treat cancer in children. Use of hyperthermia in pediatric cancer treatment is based on the biological principle. It is the combination of these hyperthermia and proton beam therapy. This could actually mimic carbon ion therapy. This cancer treatment combination is done at much lower costs. We have an active program in hyperthermia in cancer treatment. The first clinical clinical trial which combines proton beam therapy and hyperthermia for inoperable adult soft tissue sarcomas. Dr. Stephan Bodis, MD (Professor of Radiation Oncology, Zurich, Switzerland). So these are a few aspects of hyperthermia in cancer treatment. The hyperthermia cancer treatment review looked at all published data from randomized trials on the use of hyperthermia in oncology. There are 40 published clinical trials on hyperthermia in cancer treatment. These clinical trials include 4,000 cancer patients. We made a matrix analysis of all these published data on hyperthermia in cancer therapy. You see that for the majority of solid tumors, the quality of the cancer treatment data is actually good. We think hyperthermia use in cancer treatment should now be much more intensively discussed within the big tumor centers. That's my answer for the moment. Dr. Anton Titov, MD. Thank you very much. This is very interesting. Hyperthermia with proton beam therapy. What tumors would be well treated with hyperthermia and combination of proton beam therapy? Dr. Stephan Bodis, MD (Professor of Radiation Oncology, Zurich, Switzerland). No problem at all. We don't know at this moment which tumors are best treated with hyperthermia and proton beam therapy. But we think it must be a clear indication. Proton beam therapy is already now standard treatment for some tumors. It doesn't make sense to invent new cancer treatment indications. Do not use hyperthermia with proton beam therapy if it is not already a current standard practice of treatment. We think that hyperthermia can be used in treatment of pelvic sarcomas. Hyperthermia can be used to treat extremity sarcomas. Sometimes treatment requires amputation. These sarcomas are now being treated with proton beam therapy. With addition of hyperthermia, you can give a higher dose of proton beam therapy. You can give more conformality. Maybe there are also many brain tumor indications. Here in Switzerland proton beam therapy is the standard of treatment for children with brain tumors. For the pediatric brain tumor setting, addition of hyperthermia needs to be carefully discussed with cancer experts. Proton beam therapy and hyperthermia cancer treatment. Pediatric brain tumors, sarcomas and solid tumors - indications for hyperthermia in cancer therapy.
